Welcome

The 9th German-Polish Conference on Optimization – Methods and Applications is an international scientific event that continues a long-standing tradition of collaboration between the Polish and German research communities. Although the conference primarily serves as a Polish-German initiative, the organizers warmly welcome participants from other European countries and beyond. The strong international interest in previous editions confirms the relevance and importance of the topics addressed.

The thematic scope of the conference includes, among others, optimization in machine learning and the applications of fractional calculus in optimization problems. These subjects reflect both the rapid development of modern optimization methods and their growing impact on contemporary applied mathematics, data science, and engineering.

The conference is part of a well-established series organized since 1999, with previous editions held alternately in Poland and Germany: Żagań (1999), Cottbus (2002), Będlewo (2005), Moritzburg (2009), Kraków (2011), Wittenberg (2014), Będlewo (2017), and Apolda (2022).

As part of the event, a two-day workshop will be organized for PhD students and other interested participants (up to 30 persons). The workshop will be conducted by invited lecturers from Poland and Germany-renowned experts in optimization for machine learning and fractional calculus applications. Its aim is to deepen participants’ knowledge, enhance research skills, and foster an environment for establishing international scientific cooperation.
